When I tell you that I instantly thought about the movie Rollbounce. Like they have this smooth vibe to them that nobody can duplicate. I instantly thought about back home in Chicago. I sometime would go roller-skating and people would skate like they eat, breathe, and sleep skating. The way they would skate and just groove. Thats the exact feeling and aura I got from listening to Cimafunk for the first time.Cimafunk is a Grammy-nominated, Afro-Cuban artist. Stated on Cimafunk.com, Cimafunk's name correlated to his family background called "cimarrón”(Cimafunk.com). Cimarrón refers to African descent in Cuba who escaped slavery. I think Cimafunk has a great balance between his Cuban and African culture. As a person who is learning more and more about African culture outside of America, I become more and more in awe. I definitely would suggest anybody to listen to Cimafunk. Especially during the summer, I think that would be the perfect time to blast his music.
This assignment was exciting to me. This was my first time hearing of Cimafunk music. I feel in love with there style of music. I have been self centered when it comes to different music cultures but this has allowed me to open up eyes to different music.
